Hi. You made it.
First things being what they are, this is a website built out of the aftermath and stubborn continuity.
This is my place for design, for systems, for making things that still need to work even when the person building them is not having a particularly cooperative day.
There are people who build from inspiration. That’s cute. This is not that. It’s too shifty. Too unruly. Too…crusty.
This is built from lived experience. From a nervous system that has learned too many alarm tones. From a body that came in with a few manufacturing quirks and decided to stay interesting about it, and a mind that runs too many tabs, too many scenarios, too many timelines at once and still insists on creating something useful out of the noise.
There is trauma in the background. Not as a theme; as infrastructure. The wireframe within the backbone.
There is also humor. Not the kind that asks for permission, but the kind that shows up uninvited, sits down anyway, and keeps the whole thing from collapsing inward. Some days, that’s all that shows up. In a Black Veil.
TerraWalkerDotNet is what happens when my design stops being decoration and becomes survival tooling. Layout becomes orientation. Systems become scaffolding. Color becomes pulse. Words become handrails.
Nothing here is pretending to be simple. easy. romantic. taste…ful…l.
It is as layered as your favorite dip, and ice cream Dagwood, the strata on the ejecta. Like memory. Like recovery. Like getting up again and again and deciding that the next version of your life gets to have better typography, drop caps, parchment printing.
My work moves between structure and instinct. Between clarity and chaos management. Between wanting everything quiet and needing everything to mean something.
There is a belief running through me, even on the days it IS quiet: That making things is a way of staying here…Present…Functional…Participating.
There is also an Orange Cat involved in oversight. The Cat believes all systems should include scheduled disruption, snack-based negotiation, and immediate attention to any surface that has recently been cleared. He’s got it all, dead to rights.
This is not a space that stands above life.
It is built inside it.
If you are here, you probably know what it means to keep building anyway, even when it would be easier not to.
Good.
That is the whole thing.
And as my Old Pal James says, “Everything is signal”.
Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
XOXO
